Join us on 10-10-10 to Celebrate the 10th! Keynote speakers include best-selling author Thomas E. Woods, and Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson
Thomas E. Woods joins us in Orlando to talk about his new book, Nullification: How to Resist Tyranny in the 21st Century.
Woods is the New York Times bestselling author of nine books, including Meltdown and The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History. A senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute, he holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard and his master’s, M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
Through historical writings, case studies, and speeches by the Founding Fathers, Woods will give you a logical, moral, and constitutionally sound case for nullification, revealing:
- How we can roll back Obamacare, cap and trade, and other unconstitutional expansions of federal power through nullification
- Why the Founding Fathers believed that nullification was the “moderate middle ground,” not the road to secession
- Why the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution gives the states the power to nullify unconstitutional laws
- Why states – not the Supreme Court – should arbitrate disputes between the states and the federal government over the constitutionality of the federal government’s actions.
Gary Johnson is an American businessman, triathlete, and libertarian-leaning Republican politician who served as the 29th Governor of New Mexico, from 1994 to 2002. He is the Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative. Which as a 501c4 non-profit advocacy committee that seeks to broaden the parameters of the public policy debate of current topics in the national arena.
As Governor, Johnson was known for his common-sense business approach to governing. He eliminated New Mexico’s budget deficit and cut the rate of growth in state government in half. During his term, New Mexico experienced the longest period without a tax increase in the state’s history. Additionally, Governor Johnson vetoed 750 bills (which was more than all the combined vetoes of the other 49 Governors in the country at the time) and thousands of line item vetoed bills. He is known for his creation of a level playing field in business, and the prevention of favoritism in regulation and laws.
Jim Babka is a writer, activist, and former radio talk-show host. He currently serves as president of the Downsize DC Foundation and DownsizeDC.org, which states as its mission, “We believe the federal government has grown too centralized, too intrusive, and too expensive. We believe in constitutional limits, smaller government, civil liberties, federalism, and low taxes. We want to end laws and programs that don’t work, cause harm, and violate the Constitution. We want to restore the full force of the 9th and 10th amendments, which reserve most social functions to the people and the states.”
Tom Mullen is a writer, musician, and business consultant. In
January 2009, he published his first book, A Return to Common
Sense: Reawakening Liberty in the Inhabitants of America. Tom was the opening speaker at the Revolution March in Washington,
D.C. on July 12, 2008. The event was attended by over 10,000
supporters and included Thomas E. Woods, Jr., G. Edward Griffin,
Naomi Wolf, and presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Kim Russell explains to us the relationship of the Constitution, the nullification movement and the push for medical marijuana in the states. Clearly, the nullification movement is far from being solely the purview of the political right. She is the founder of People United for Medical Marijuana, organized in 2009 and based in Orlando, FL. She earned a degree in business from the University of Central Florida and spent 20 years in the real estate industry. Kim became a stay at home mom in 2006 and now has two young children.
Phil Russo is the co-host, along with Jason Hoyt, of the Tea Party Patriots Live Radio show – every Saturday in Orlando. He’s also the co-founder along with Jason of the Orlando Tea Party, which held the city’s first tea party rally in early 2009.
