But what IS nullification? How does it happen and work? Since September 2010, the Tenth Amendment Center has been hosting a national tour to educate and activate people on this topic. People are learning the constitutional basis, when it’s been used in history, and how it is happening around the country and how YOU can stop DC right in your own state.
We’ve been asked by some people to bring this tour to Maine, and we’re excited about the prospects! Putting this event together takes a lot of dedication, numerous local groups supporting and helping promote, and generating the start-up funding to get it off the ground. Bottom line? WE NEED YOUR HELP! Here’s the process:
1. FUNDING. Outreach to the local community and potential group sponsors to help with the funding needed to secure the venue, confirm speakers, and other initial costs. 2. BOOKING. Once initial funding is completed, we begin the process of confirming a venue, date and speakers. Dates can only be solidified once we have the required funding to do the event, so please make your pledge today!
3. PROMOTION. After the venue and speakers are booked and confirmed, we’ll enter the event with our ticketing agent to make available tickets to the general public – and follow through on a massive outreach and media campaign to generate the interest needed to fill the event. When we get to this point, we can certainly use your help!
